Voluntary Reduction in Plastic Use
Efforts to reduce the use of plastic containers/packaging
Since 1995, JSDA and its member companies have been dealing with reduction of plastic usage for packaging. Each member company has promoted the action by introducting and expanding of refill and concentration of products.
In addition to these reductions, there are efforts to reuse containers and recycle materials.
In 1995, JSDA started a survey of the member companies’ action for plastic reduction, and subsequently launched a voluntary plastic reduction plan in 2006. During the second voluntary plan from 2011 to 2015, we successfully achieved our target of 40% reduction of plastic usage per product shipment amount from the reference year1995.
